For the interior design of the Stec Group in Arnhem, Plamen van Dijk | Design Studio created a contemporary working environment within the monumental office building 'De Nederlanden van 1845', designed by architect W.M. Dudok. This national monument is characterised by a business style with influences from the Nieuwe Bouwen, including curved building volumes, horizontal windows and a glass staircase.
Working with the National Monument Service, original details have been carefully restored. For example, the exterior steel frames have been replaced and the original glass blocks from the rear façade have been reused in the new reception area. The new internal walls match the lines of the external frames, ensuring a harmonious integration of old and new.
In addition, the air handling system has been partially renewed using the original air ducts and recesses. Timeless designs by Gispen and Artifort were chosen for the loose furniture, contributing to a stylish and functional interior.
